Management posting

i have started my management posting last week but it wasn't a very good one due to the busyness of the ward since it was in morning shift...so today's afternoon shift when the team leader was willing to teach me about management,i was very happy and eager to learn..i got to follow Dr's round, write report, do admission, and etc...etc...
doing all this paperwork and report writing makes me realize that its not easy being a team leader at all...
cause there's so much paperwork to do and they have no time to give patient care at all or even look at them...besides,following dr's round required us nurses to pay attention i mean like as in REALLY,REALLY pay attention to what they are saying to the patient because everything they have said and done to the patient must be recorded and the dr does not see one patient..he will see several at once...so the best thing for me was to keep writing down the dr's order and what he has done while following him but today best of all,i finally got a chance to call the dr when his patient was admitted to the ward...
i was extremely scared and nervous as i've never tried calling a doctor and it was my very 1st time...
i think all the staff nurse was observing me while i make the call...it goes like this

Dr**** : Hello??
Me : (Nervously) Er...hi...calling from ward 6B..ur patient****** has already come in to ward 6B.
Dr**** : which ward she admitted?? ( i think he said smthg like that)
Me : admitted to ward 6 boo i mean 6B
Dr**** : ok,u tell Dr ***** and tell him to go and see the family members as they are waiting for him...
Me : ok

when i put down the phone,all the staff nurse who has been listening burst out laughing..haha xD
i laughed along and am really relief when it was over....tried to call the other Dr but it kept ending in voicemail...oh well..the only sad thing is i could not get to pass report to next shift as the bus has already arrived...oh well..maybe next time...but today it was definitely a good start for the week,hopefully the coming days will be a good one too =) i am going to be optimistic and learn as much as i can ^^
